Established in 1995, the Hong Kong Arts Development Council (HKADC) is a statutory body set up to promote the development of arts in Hong Kong. The Chief Executive may appoint up to 10 persons nominated by the arts interests of Arts Administration, Arts Criticism, Arts Education, Chinese Opera (Xiqu), Dance, Drama, Film Arts, Literary Arts, Music and Visual Arts to be members of the HKADC.

The current term of office of the HKADC members will expire on 31 December 2025. HKADC is assisting the arts sector in conducting an exercise to nominate representatives of the specified arts interests for the Chief Executive’s consideration of appointment as members of the HKADC for a term of 3 years with effect from 1 January 2026.

Among the ten arts interests, there are three arts interests with more than one candidate, including the Arts Administration, Arts Education and Xiqu, for which voting for respective representatives is required. As there is only one candidate in the other seven arts interests, no polling was required. The polling was held succesfully from 27 to 29 September 2025 at HKADC Showcase. Out of the 7,275 eligible voters, 1,861 registered voters were eligible to vote in the three contested arts interests. The total number of votes cast was 288, resulting in a voter turnout of 15.5%. The vote counting and announcement of the polling results took place immediately after the close of the polling today (29 September). After vote counting, the results are as follows:
